Why socks?
Did you know that socks are one of the most requested items by people experiencing homelessness?
Across the month of November, team members from villages and head office donated socks to the Charity Streetsocks.
What a 'socksess' this has been. The final count was 687 pairs of socks donated and received by the Charity Founder - Darren Butler.
These socks won’t change lives, but they will help many people who are sleeping rough to feel more comfortable and cared for.
A BIG thank you to team members across Audley villages and Egham office. Without the kindness of our teams, these initiatives wouldn’t be the success they are.
"Over 10 years ago, I began supporting people experiencing homelessness by doing something simple yet meaningful: sitting with them, buying them coffee, and listening to their stories. I quickly realised how often they are ignored—treated as though they are invisible, looking in at society from the peripherals.
These moments taught me the power of acknowledgment and how a small act of kindness can make someone feel seen and valued. Inspired by these experiences, I focused on practical solutions that make a tangible difference. Through my experience, I’ve seen how something as simple as clean socks can improve health and restore dignity for rough sleepers.
I founded Streetsocks to meet this critical need and rally communities around a straightforward yet impactful cause. My goal is to bring awareness, inspire action, and create lasting change for those experiencing homelessness. Socks may seem small, but they can make a world of difference by preventing illness, providing warmth, and restoring dignity.
Together, we can tackle this challenge, one small step at a time."
