What does club membership look like

Whether you are self-motivated or prefer to surround yourself with other like-minded gym-goers, a health club membership can provide the best of both worlds.

What is The Audley Club?

At Audley, each of our Audley Club locations is unique in its setting and environment, although all 13 Audley health clubs do have a few things in common:

  • Set in a beautiful location
  • Frequented by like-minded members
  • Welcome an older clientele, from around 50 years old (this varies by location)
  • Offer fitness classes
  • Run aqua classes
  • personal trainer who can support you as much or as little as you need
  • An adjoining* restaurant (*or within a very short walk).

How, and how often, should you exercise?

Existing Audley Club members typically use the gym, fitness studio or swimming pool between 3 and 5 times a week, although some visit daily). The advice is for over 55s is to exercise at least once a day, according to the NHS.

According to a study by The Independent in 2019, many retired people avoid strength training when they have joint pain. The advice is actually the reverse. Strength training can really help to build those bones as well as muscle.

The benefits of a personal trainer

Personal training is no longer considered a celebrity fad as we learn more and more what is right for our individual bodies. Personal training is a 1 to 1 training/workout session with a certified trainer.

Build those bones

Keeping your bones and skeletal frame strong and healthy is just as important as looking after your overall health and wellbeing.

To improve bone density, our bodies need to be subjected to weight baring exercises.

Here's an example of a timetable of fitness classes for Audley Club members, in addition to use of the gym, swimming pool, spa and treatment rooms. The fitness team do run classes outdoors when the weather allows for it (there are so many benefits to outdoor exercise) and still run the occasional virtual class when it is called for.
