The theme of Black History Month (BHM) this year is ‘Saluting Our Sisters’ and the #WEMATTER movement.
The theme 'Saluting Our Sisters' pays homage to black women who over the years have had their contributions ignored, ideas appropriated, and voices silenced.
It is an opportunity to learn for our own personal growth and to recognise the many black women who have achieved amazing things, despite often being sidelined or suppressed.
It’s no mean feat taking part in a project like this, it takes courage and a desire for change and education. We appreciate all our team members and owners who wanted to take part in this video.
Over the month of October, we will be hosting Black History Month-themed coffee mornings with our owners and sharing the above video with them. We also are hosting a BHM-themed Sip and Paint event at Audley Nightingale Place with a black female artist leading a painting session. 10% of the money made will be donated to Dear Black Women & Girls a charity selected by our Receptionist Precious Ejimiwe, who’s idea lead to this event.
