Guiltless toast: avocado, nutritional yeast and chillies

Nothing beats a freshly toasted slice of bread with a generous spread of your favourite topping. But what isn’t so desirable is the guilty feeling when you look at the sugar content... so why not try toast with a twist? Avocado is very on trend and complete with those healthy fats we all hear so much about. But the real star of this snack is the nutritional yeast.

Nutritional yeast

If you haven't tried it before, nutritional yeast has a natural cheese like flavour and gives avocado an umami element. It is rich in vitamin B-12 and provides up to 8 grams of protein per serving depending on usage amount.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 slices of thick cut wholemeal bread
  • ½ avocado (sliced or mashed)
  • 1 tsp nutritional yeast (or to taste)
  • ¼ red chilli (sliced)
  • Himalayan pink salt (to taste)

Method

Simply toast your bread, spread the mashed avocado on it, then sprinkle over the nutritional yeast. Top with the sliced chilli and Himalayan pink salt.
