Ellerslie Local Area

Steeped in history.

The Ellerslie mansions were built in 1855 and are situated in the historic spa town of Great Malvern. Once a water cure establishment of Doctor Edward and Walter Johnson, they were visited by key figures such as Charles Darwin and Florence Nightingale.

These splendid buildings later became a preparatory school for girls in the 1920s before becoming part of the prestigious Malvern College.

Charming Great Malvern

Great Malvern is home to an array of cafes and restaurants, as well as bookshops, antique dealers and fashion boutiques. The Malvern lifestyle also attracts artists and craftspeople who exhibit their wares in its shops, galleries and markets. If you’re looking to go further afield, Great Malvern offers two train stations for quick and easy access to the vibrant cities of Birmingham and Hereford.

Dramatic hills, natural beauty

The Malvern Hills are famed for their landscape, therapeutic spring water and musical and literary connections. They have also been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) – and it’s easy to see why. A 40-minute walk from Audley Ellerslie to the Worcestershire Beacon provides the perfect vantage point for some of England’s grandest views – eastwards towards the Cotswolds, northwards towards Shropshire and westwards towards the mountains of Wales. The Hills are also a ramblers’ paradise, providing ideal walking conditions for all abilities.
